Anyone know who it is who is providing this for them?

To me it is interesting you can't check with them on line for availability
for your line/exchange or order on line.

When I was with way back it was NTL (VM) who did the BB, and my mobile phone
with them is O2.

I left Tesco BB because they refused to go or consider going for the then
new higher speeds, but I never had to complain abot the speed/service/
customer service.

Regards
David

Yes that link got me the article.

I used Sam Knows for my location and Cable & Wireless nor Tesco mentioned.

The E-mail from Tesco offers up to 20Mb, I have just rung Tesco and asked
what speed I could expect here, they checked my line and said 7.17Mb
I'm with Be up to 24Mb and my router reports 14MB and a speed test site
gives 12.5Mb.

Would I be right in thinking that C&W will use therefore some ones up to 8Mb
service and not an LLU?
Looks to me Tesco are perhaps being a little misleading to me in saying up
to 20Mb.

I am not going ahead with some thing like half the speed although price is
attractive.

I continue therefore to await Be to introduce a BB phone package to me as
their sister company O2 do.

David

They said to you up to 7.17Mb. They said to everybody [because they
don't do an availability check on everyone's number before spamming
them] up to 20Mb.

Well I asked for predication of what I would get here, not the up to at the
exchange end.
If it it be the up to figure they have given well it is going to 3 Mb, 4 if
lucky.
That is going to be no competition to the big boys which are all at my
exchange.

David

Thanks.

The following services are available in your location:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
O2 / Be LLU
Bulldog LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Orange LLU (Formerly Wanadoo)

A question then Stephen did Talk Talk only take Bulldog customers and not
the equipment?
Because if I Google Bulldog BB I get TT.

David

If you're getting 14M sync with ADSL2+, then you're not going to get
just 3M sync with ADSL2, unless something is wrong.

http://kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php

However, actual throughput [ie once you factor in contention] is a lot
harder to predict. So, if they're shit, you may well sync at 7M and get
3M throughput :-)

As I recall, Bulldog was the ill-fated Cable & Wireless-owned LLU
consumer ISP.
It was bought out first (I think) by Onetel, which then was in turn
bought out by Craphone Warehouse/Talk Talk.
Whether or not the exchange equipment is still in use is a moot point
but it certainly ain't Bulldog any more.
And now the wheel has turned full circle with Cable & Wireless setting
up their new ISP under the Tesco name.
These ownership changes are sometimes hard to keep up with and sometimes
result in some farcical results, like when BT hived off Cellnet, which
is now O2 and foreign-owned, so BT then had to get into bed with their
previous arch-rival, Vodafone, to set up their new mobile phone service,
when they could have left things alone in the first place!

There are a number of C&W resellers - Vivaciti, Xilo, Uno and also Virgin
are using ts to LLU their ADSL customers where available
