Thanks for your imput which you peeps have provided on Plusnet.

I have just placed my order for the £14.99 service and will be cancelling my
NTHell account next week. I have just been into the members control panel
and have to say it quite nifty with all the options and help.

They seem like quite a professional annd caring company...even providing all
thier hourly telephone stats :-) I wonder if NTL would do that on thier site
:-)

I waited 28 days only to be told that the line wasnt good enough....
Refunded deposit straight away.
Now with Pipex - 250K for 2 pound more. Free modem etc.,

I was with NTHell, before I joined Plusnet, and I must say, these are
both extremes of the spectrum. Plusnet have been nothing but excellent,
NTL was a total nightmare. NTL took 3 months of letters, faxes, phone
calls to try and cancel, in the end I stopped the Direct Debit, their
email server was hopeless, and so was there news server, their
"transparent" proxy was not very transparent, so much that many sites
like ebay and hotmail constantly screwed up.

I'm sure you will be pleased with Plusnet, I am....

Yeah I know all too well about the dodgy newsgroup access on NTHell :-) I am
having to pay Forte an extra fee just to get access because it never works
on NTHell.

As for email, I never even bothered...I just used Hotmail to save my stress
levels from hitting an all time high.

I have to agree completely with Black Shuck's points about the ntl service,
especially with the not-so-transparent proxies causing all manner of problems
with accessing certain sites (Ebay especially!). Their email was useless to the
point that incoming and outgoing email took days to arrive or didn't arrive at
all, proxies had to be changed several times to get to one site and downloading
posts off the news server caused a time out or it would not work at all!

I am glad I shall be rid of this moronic company who are useless at providing a
service that works. They have had long enough to sort out faults with the
service!

I honestly don't understand why companies like NTL are still in
buisness. Their service sucks to an extent that calling them a ISP is
an insult to all other ISP's (except perhaps Tiscali...)
