I just received in this brand new Linksys product today.

As usual I connected my laptop (which is configured for auto-obtain
IP) with a cat5 cable to port 1 (or 2 or 3 or 4) on the BEFVP41.

Then I powered up the BEFVP41 followed by powering up my laptop.

While I get some blinks on the activity LED of my network adapter on
the PC the ethernet ports on the BEFVP41 are stone cold dark!

I then set my PC to a static of 192.168.1.2 and tried again. No luck.

I then reset the BEFVP41 (reset button for > 30 secs) and still no
luck.

The only thing I did NOT do is plug the BEGVP41 into a cable/dsl modem
(I am at the office with only a T1).

Do I have a problem here with this unit? Has anyone experienced this
symptom before?

Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Waiting for kind answers.

Bob

Did you try changing ports? Are you sure the patch cable is good?
You should see link lights on both ends try a different port and
cable. Also are you sure your NIC on the pc is good?

Additional Info:

Tried ALL the ports on the back of the BEFVP41 - no luck.

Tried three different cables including a cross-over - no luck.

Tried a different PC - luck. Tried the laptop on a different network
- works fine. Go figure!

Now I'm able to access the web configuration pages on the BEFVP41.
However, when ever I click on "Save Configuration" or "Help/More" I
get only the 404 message.

Must the router be connected to a LIVE Internet connection to allow
basic configuration?

Any more info anyone???

No

Are the browser setting so locked down with security settings on the browser
that it cannot access all admin pages or execute a router function? The
browser interface for the router's administration pages must be able to
execute Active and Java scripting to manipulate or complete the commands to
setup the router.
