New LapTop Wireless gives up

Got the new laptop home, found my existing wireless network no problem. Then
one day nothing. Actually, can still find the wireless network, connect,
signal strength good, etc. But CANNOT access any external websites on
browser. Been running all kinds of troubleshooting, scans, etc. "Repair
connection" issues this error message: Cannot clear DNS cache. Of course I
can go in and run ipconfig /flushdns manually but that doesn't seem to
resolve the issue. Apparently scan shows that I cannot ping my own machine
(the Laptop).

Desktop is running Windows XP while laptop is running Windows XP SP2, could
this be a known problem--haven't seen anything on this yet.

Thanks

If everything looks ok and you can share files on your network but are
getting 'Page cannot be displayed' scenario on your web browser, this is
what I do to fix it and it has worked for me on my laptop each time.

you need to run WinsockXPfix.exe. I was given the link from the nice people
here but can't remember what the link was.
good luck
J
