New Hardware found Pop Up

Hi,

The above is a nifty feature of (dare I say it!) XP!, and one I would
really like my new Redhat 9 box to have. How do I do it? (it's absolutely
essential for the little USB pendrives that are so popular now).

kudzu runs at boot to handle adding new cards, etc.
hotplug handles pluggable devices.
