If anyone has the original router Sky supply (the white one, not the latest
black one), there is some new firmware available which fixes a number of
bugs. Have a look on www.skyuser.co.uk

You can update it yourself, or, if you are not confident enough Sky will be
doing it remotely sometime soon.

A very useful new feature, is the adsl sync light now turns orange when
synced, going to green when connected. Previously it went green on sync,
without any further indication of connectivity.

Does that mean that the LED that lights with the Netgear firmware to
show connection established doesn't light with the sky firmware? It's
between the "tick" and the wireless LEDs, but blanked off :-(

The dg834gt as far as i know doesnt have any indication light of interent
connectivity, whether it is sky branded or not. I know the new generation
netgear routers do have a connectivity light, as well as an incredibly
irritating unreliable quick installation setup that it forces you to
complete before it allows direct access to the router settings. It means
instead of taking three minutes to set one up, it take about ten minutes...

OK. Just checked the Netgear website and the dg834gt "foil" has the same
symbol set as the Sky badged version. However, there are 9 LEDs on my
sky unit, equally spaced, but the third from one end doesn't have a
symbol etched in the foil and illuminates when the connection is made.
It is only visible through the ventilation slots (unless you open the
unit and scrape some of the "silver" from the foil :-) )
