New Dell Laptop w/ 82.11b wireless card integrated and Microsoft Wired Router

My laptop has been able to locate the router according to
the taskbar, but not according to the window that maps
the network. I also cannot access the internet on it
because of it- I have a high speed cable connection. I
don't know if this matters- but my key that the computer
keeps saving is about 15 characters short of the acutal

Disable WEP on both the router and the laptop. Make sure
the SSID and channel match on both. The TCP/IP properties
on the laptop wireless connection should be set
to "server assigned".

Also on IE, open Tools|Options|Connections and check
either to use LAN only, or dial out only if a connection
is not present. Make sure there is no proxy.

Once you can get to the Internet, enable WEP on both
router and laptop. Make sure both are of the same length
64 or 128 bits.

If you have multiple computers, set the same workgroup on
all of them.
