New build house - ADSL installation

Hi,

I'm having a new house built and when it's finished I'll need a BT
telephone line installed. The exchange is ADSL enabled and I want ADSL self
install from an ISP other than BT. Here's the question: can I order ADSL
when I order the phone line and have it wired with BT faceplate by the
engineer who installs the line? Or is it one of those Catch 22 situations
where I can only order ADSL when I've already got a BT line installed?

TIA,
Terry

The latter - you can't order ADSL without a working line. Although
there's no reason you can't have a word with a friendly BT engineer
and ask him if he has a spare ADSL faceplate in the back of his van.

It depends on the ISP you want to order ADSL with.

Most will only accept an ADSL order once an active BT line is in place.

However, a few (BT's own branded ones and A&A comes to mind) are part of a
BT trial
which means that you order your new line via your ISP and BT come and
install that and the ADSL connection at the same time.

As I say, it all depends if your choosen ISP is part of the trial - you
would have to check with them.

Regards
Sunil

Why they won't simply offer to up-front sell you one if you want one,
say 15 quid each to make the wiring neater, I don't understand.
