Hello

I have recently upgraded to Orange broadband (livebox), no major problems
but I sometimes get a message saying I am working off line. I cannot find
how to go go back online

The problem seems to sort itself out after a while

Sometimes my old dialup connection window appears.

I thought I was online all the time with broadband, ?

Does anyone know what is going on here ?

Thanks for all advice

KK

Sounds like a connection issue between your PC and the Livebox. How is
it connected?

Goto - Internet Options - Connections - Tick "never dial a connection".

If you get that prompt you should also get a box which says "stay
offline" or "connect", pressing connect will re-establish your
connection.

As you are now using a Livebox, in Internet Explorer go to tools >
internet options > connections > and make sure "never dial a
connection" is selected. This will prevent the PC trying to use the
previous connection entries (presumably the USB modem).

In your internet settings, you have an option to only dial when no internet
connection is present. What is happening, is your livebox is going offline,
and your computer loses its internet connection, so it fall back on dialing
up, which you cancel, and then the computer goes into offline mode.

To immediatly get out of offline mode, just click refresh on internet
explorer, or press send and recieve in outlook express.

That isnt your major problem however, for some reason you are losing
connection on your livebox, this is almost certainly due to some kind of
setup problem with filters and extensions.

Are you sure you have followed the instructions for laying the filters? Are
you sure you dont have a stray extension (like one going to a skybox) on the
wrong side of the filter? Any phones not filtered? maybe an old one upstairs
in a kids bedroom?
