All clients are Win 95, 98, or Me. Added a new Win 2000 server to my workgroup, ( the only 2000 server ) The 2000 server can get to all clients but the clients can not get to the shares I set up on the 2000 box. In my network work places as soon as you click on the name of the 2000 server you get a password box for the IPC$ connection. The admin password does not work. Right now everyone has full control and local policy is setup for everyone to access this computer from the network. Is it because it's a workgroup and not a domain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You'll want to create an account (in Users and Passwords) on the Win2k
machine(s) with the username and password that you use to logon to the win9x
machine(s) with. Then you'll need to share out the resource(s) with
permissions for those users. Also make sure they're all part of the same
workgroup. Then you'll no longer be prompted for the IPC$ password
Inter-process communication)

In a peer level workgroup, when you try to access resources on a Windows
2000 machine, Windows 2000 needs to authenticate the user. If the user
account doesn't exist in it's local account database, then access will be
denied.

In addition, you might want to consider setting up Active Directory (domain
model) for centralized admin, security, etc.
