Never Dial!!!

I have a WinXP desktop with a normal connection to the Internet via a
cable modem. I also have a WinXP laptop that I use when travelling and
I have a dial-up connection via modem. I like to dial up from the
desktop from time to time just to check things, etc, so I have the
dial-up connection set up on the desktop.

In Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections, I check "Never dial a
connection". But some program/option/whatever keeps setting this
option back to "Dial whenever a connection is not present" and then
for some reason I keep getting a pop-up asking me to dial my dial-up ISP.

How do I find what is re-setting this option and how do I STOP it from
doing this very aggravating action?

Thanks and regards, hawk

Windows XP questions should be asked in a Windows XP newsgroup where you
will get advice that is tailored to your needs.

If you have a connection to mail or newserver setup to use the modem, that
setting will reset as such noted.

Set your network connection to "Connect through LAN". It will never think
to ask you about dialing a modem, because it won't realize that it is part
of your setup.
