Netwroking Noob question (cable for gigabit networks same price as...)

This is such a simple question i haven't been able to easily find an
answer (i guess its assumed most people know). I wanted to setup a
gigabit network for my folks (streaming content, could be as much as 4
streams at a time, hence the bandwidth) and wasn't sure if there was a
difference between the cabling needed for regular 10/100 networks and
gigabit ones.

I asked a guy at the local comp store and hey said yes and suggested
this crazy expensive cabling. I just wanted to hear it from some other
knowledgeable individuals (that aren't trying to sell me something); i
know the cards/routers are more expensive but the cables too? Just want
to make sure. Thanks!

You need CAT5E.
