HI,

I am running Windows 2003 standard sp1. (no window firewall)
For some reason my VPN, remote desttop and PCanywhere is not working
anymore. I have checked/reboot the linksys router and server with no luck.

I disconnected the server and used it's IP from another computer and it
worked fine, meaning that there is nothing wrong with router, looks like
windows is blocking the remote connection, or some service is stopping,...
pls help.

thank you in advance.

Can I assume you can do VPN and remote desktop internally? If yes, I would check the router port forwarding first.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself very clear.
The server is at my house, when I tried to use VPN, PcAnywere or RDP at the
office to connect to my server at home, none of them works. I have check to
router settings, everything seems to be right. I can ping my router from
office, it just won't able to connect to it.

Router IP: 64.46.1.xx
Server IP: 192.168.1.2 (DMZ the address in router setting)

IF I disconnect the network cable on the server, and use the server IP
address on another laptop, then I can connect to this laptop from office,
meaning that the router is working fine, it is forward the internal IP
address correctly.

I think it is the issue with the server. some service is not running or has
stopped.

any idea??

thank you.

If you enable DMZ on the router, make sure you don't do the port forwarding. Otherwise, that may not work. I would just use port forwarding instead of DMZ.

Check the Event Log on the Server for clues.
Event Log is your friend,..sometimes an annoying one, but your friend.
