NetworkManager and wpa_supplicant

I'm running Fedora 8 on a Gateway laptop with a
Broadcom wireless card.

I've been able to get wireless working only by
starting wpa_supplicant with certain arguments
before trying to start wlan0 via NetworkManager.
If I just use NetworkManager, I can see a wpa_supplicant
process, but with the wrong arguments.

So: how can I have NetworkManager specify
different arguments to wpa_supplicant?
