Networking Two Computers

Currently, I have a desktop computer, a laptop (with a wifi card), and
a wireless access point/router (D-Link 614+). For internet access,
the router is connected to the dsl modem. A cable connects the
desktop to the router and the laptop has wireless connectivity to the
router.

My problem is trying to establish a "network" between the desktop and
the laptop in order to share files between the two devices. For
whatever reason, I cannot seem to find the proper documentation on how
to create the laptop-to-desktop connectivity (BTW, the desktop uses
WinXP and the laptop uses Win2K). Could someone please point me in
the right direction to some good documentation.

I have Win 98SE and you go to Control Panel, Network and configure it with
File and Print sharing.

See if you have something simular.

I suggest you connect the laptop to the router with a Cat 5 cable to
establish your LAN, file and print sharing etc. Use the XP wizard. Once
the LAN is up and running, then work on the wireless part.
One step at a time!
