Networking - network adapter

I'm running 2 computers with windows 98, I have purchased
the linksys NR041 to connect both with the internet. I am
reading that the computers either have to have network
adapters if not equipped with that then needed to install
a 10/100 LAN Card on each computer. How do I know or find
out if I have network adapters ? Do I need either of these
on both computers or just one. I'm not sure what I need to
network these computers - any info would help.

Thanks
DD

Each computer needs a Network Interface Card (NIC) sometimes called a
network adapter or a 10/100 Lan Card. And you will need an Ethernet
cable to attach each computer to your router. If your computers have
built in NICs, your documentation should say so, but you could also
check to see if they have RJ45 ports. An RJ45 port looks like a phone
jack, but slightly bigger.

Regards, jimbo

you will need a ntework card in each machine ... look at the back ...there
will be a single jack on one card that looks like a modem jack but a bit
bigger...

OR go to control panel >system>device manager and check under "network
adapters" it will list one there if it is installed

You will need to buy and put one ethernet network adapter in each machine and connect them
to the Linksys with Cat-5 ethernet cables. Check with your local computer vendor or
somewhere like CompUSA or BestBuy to get the parts you need.

Thanks,
Gary
