My husband has an iBook and runs Word for Macintosh and I
have a PC Windows ME. We are networked with a wireless
MSHome to use the DSLinternet connection . I want to send
his files to my computer so that I can burn his files to a
CD for backup. I have a CD burner. He does not have any
way to back anything up. His computer doesn't even have a
floppy drive, only a CD drive. Can you help me do that?
I'm no techie, that's for sure. Your assistance would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Rikki,

The easiest way to move files from a Mac to a Windoze computer would
be ftp, which is a command supported natively by Apple (and anything
else internet compatible). Go to
<http://www.download.com/?legacy=cnet> and search for "ftp server" for
an ftp server program for your Windows ME computer.

Once you have an ftp server running on your computer, he just has to
use the ftp command (or interface?) on his Mac, specify the ip address
of your computer, and it will be done.

Are you running a firewall on your computer? Make sure to trust his
computer if so.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
