networking logon failure

I am using a wireless router and have had no problems with my 3 computer
network. All of the sudden computer B & C cannot access computer A, but can
access each other. Computer A can access B & C. When I try to access
Computer A (from B or C) by clicking its icon (my network places/view
workgroup computers) I get an error message "Logon failure: the user has not
been granted the requested logon type at this computer"

Any ideas? All three computers are on MSHOME workgroup, names have not
changed and file and print sharing is turned on. Like I said...nothing has
been changed.

Thanks

You are running a software firewall on Computer A that is now blocking
incoming requests for file & printer sharing or Windows has been
reconfigured somehow so that the other users either no longer have
rights or that nobody has rights. One cause of this is if they change
their password on computer B & computer C for a specific user name, but
they forget to also change it on Computer A.

At this point I'd try having the three computers ping each other as that
will help in the troubleshooting.

Please do not contact me directly or ask me to contact you directly for

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on
http://www.google.com/ http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en&tab=wg&q= or
http://news.google.com/froogle?hl=en&tab=nf&ned=us&q= before wasting our
time.

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (The site I've linked
to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)

Thanks for your response. The firewall i am using is from Norton 2004 and is
configured for the network. The Windows firewall is turned off on all three
computers. All three computers are using XP-home edition and the only user
is the administrator and the user name is the same on all three computers and
all ways has been. There is no password on any of them. I do not know how
to ping the computers. Maybe you could let me know or have other ideas.
Thanks.

I have since pinged the computers. It appears all is fine. They do talk to
each other, there is just no accesability from B&C to A. Thanks

Try temporarily uninstalling the Norton software. Shutting it off with
"exit" from the Systray icon only closes the icon down. The Windows
Firewall is designed to allow Local Area Network traffic, and should not
interfere, but I'll guarantee you Norton products will.

Thanks. I tried this but it did not work. The network was fine for a year
with Norton and simply stopped working one day. After uninstalling Norton
and the problem still existing, it must be another problem. The conditions
explained in my first post still exist. Any other ideas? Thanks, Dean

Try posting in a Windows newsgroup as this is a Windows issue.

Here is an example. microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.
