I have an old PC running Windows 98. The Motherboard died
and I had to put a new one in. I have gotten the PC back
up and running with one exception: I cannot connect to
the internet.

Very strange issue though I can browse a local network
and I can Ping to the internet by IP Address. I cannot
Ping by name. I get an error "Unable to resolve Host
<Website name>"

I have tried to setup a Local Hosts file to see if that
would help but it does not.
I have already removed and reinstalled the Network
adapter and all parts such as Client for Microsoft
Networking. . . Also I have removed and reinstalled IE
and am running IE 6 w/ sp1 but am still unable to browse.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

JC The PC Guy.

It sounds like you haven't set the DNS server in

My Computer -> Control Panel -> Network -> (TCP/IP Properties) -> DNS

(unless you're using DHCP, in which case it might be set by your DHCP
server; if you're doing DHCP locally, perhaps via a router, you might
need to set it there)

Normally your ISP will tell you the identity of their DNS server(s).
