Networking in DOS mode...

I'm having a problem enabling networking in DOS mode. If
I boot to command prompt only I can get it up and running
with the following string of commands:

lsl
1207ODI
IPXODI

This seems to work, though I don't know how to access
shared files on the network. Since we are using a
microsoft network and not a netware network I don't think
the netware NETX command will do much good. The microsoft
network commands don't seem to work either.

Also, if I try to run those commands from "Restart in MS-
DOS mode", my system locks up when I type 1207ODI. The
only thing I can think of is that alot of the windows
drivers are still loaded. The problem is that the NET
commands for windows still don't work.

A long time ago, I "know" I had it up and running just
fine in both modes (boot to command prompt and restart in
DOS mode.) I've experimented with different combinations
without any success. I've tried unpacking the PROTMAN.DOS
and PROTMAN.EXE files from the Win98 CD (as the commands
state they need those,) but don't know how to configure
them.

Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. I'm not including a valid e-mail address with this,
as I have had to close down 2 mailboxes so far. Every
time I include an address here, my mail box start getting
uber-spammed with virus files. It doesn't happen when I
don't include the e-mail.

What networking protocol do you use - Netware, or
Microsoft?

We are using Microsoft networking protocols.

If you do then your commands are a puzzle, as they
contain references to IPX:

lsl
1207ODI
IPXODI

If you're after a DOS network boot disk, these sites
might help you:
