I'm looking for a cheap but good (802.11b) wifi solution for my apartment.
I hear the MS-500 wireless base stations have pretty okay range and I just
found them for sale for $39.99CND
(http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...=EN&dept=18&WL
BS=fsweb9&sku_id=0665000FS10021737&catid=&newdepti d=18#MoreInfo ). I want
to setup a free access point using a Linux box as a captive portal gateway.
In addition, I want to connect a Windows XP machine wirelessly. My question
is: can I basically use one of these MS-500's as an adapter for my XP
machine to connect to the wireless network? Does the software on it let me
repeat the wifi signal from the 1st MS-500 (connected to the linux box) out
via ethernet to the Windows machine connected to the 2nd MS-500?

Here's the network setup I envision:

INTERNET--->LINUX GATEWAY-------> #1 MS-500 wifi router ----> free access
point -----> #2 MS-500 wifi router -----> Windows XP machine

Any better suggestions? Thanks for your help,
Mitchua
