Hi, a little advice would be appreciated.
I have a cable modem. Bought the MN-620 wireless kit for
my laptop a while ago, works fine. Bought a new PC and
would like to know what to do to setup my PC to the
network wired (or wireless).
I guess my confusion is if the MN-620 is only for
wireless products or if I can attach the Ethernet to the
base station from the PC. The PC has XP Pro, and I when I
tried to run Setup, it said that there's a known
compatibility issue with the OS?? Couldn't find a related
issue on the MS site.

Thx for your help.

Okay..so I just found a post relevant to the
compatibility issue. I realize I have to update the
firmware.
Still, I'd appreciate some advice on the setup...
TIA

PC could be connected to base station via ethernet cable,
yes, unless you were to add a wireless card or USB
adapter to it instead.

Here's web address about that kit.

Although, I'm not exactly certain what you are asking. If
you only meant connecting the new PC by wire then it's
simple, only needs a networking card already in the
computer and most if not all have one these days. Up to 4
ports in the base station for connecting more computers,
they just need to be configured for networking by joining
a workgroup. The Windows networking wizard should get you
through that okay.

Hope that helps a little.

Thank you. That does clarify quite a bit.
So nothing need change with the existing network? (i.e.
the current config with my laptop and card).
Also, I suppose a wireless card is not standard with most
PCs yet?
TIA

Shouldn't be any more to it than joining the group after
setting up for networking.

Was hoping someone else might have more to say on the
matter, though, since I'm somewhat of a half-wit when it
comes to the whole networking thing. I like simplicity,
not creating complicated addressing stuff.

The 'desktop' computers don't seem to be picking up on it
like the portable computers have, for obvious reasons.
Although often offered as an optional accessory when a
wireless router is involved for many of them anyway. Used
to be that you'd not get a ethernet card either, but I
guess broadband internet access has helped change all
that.
