Networking & Dial-up Internet Access?

If this is a dumb question, please forgive me and I'll plead ignorance.
Anyway.... I've got 2 pc's wireless-networked to share a broadband internet
connection via a router to a cable modem. I don't really know what I'm
doing, but I followed the instructions and it works fine.

A friend who is aware of my network has asked for help in networking 3 pc's,
so that they can share a dial-up access. Apparently, his ISP only permits
one pc to be logged-on per each account. At this stage, I'm scratching my
head and seriously confused. I appreciate any feedback on the wisdom of
trying to do this....

1) Is it feasible?
2) Is it practical? Seems to me the dial-up connection would seriously bog
down with multiple users.
3) If it's feasible and practical, what does the network look like? With my
external broadband modem, the configuration was simple. With the dial-up
modems being internal, I don't understand what's connected to what.

Thanks for your help,
Pete

Obtain a router which can operate a dial up modem. There are several.
The D-Link DI-704 can do that.

Connect the three computers to the ethernet ports of the router.

Will work well. Certainly not as fast as ADSL or cable modem, but
neither system will likely notice that other systems are also on line.

Some ISP's set up an account which checks the MAC address of the
connecting machine. In that case, clone the MAC address (the router will
have a setting to clone [pretend to have] the MAC address the ISP is
looking for.

The dial-up would be slow that's for sure, but people live with it.

Any router that as a RS232 connection can be connected to a dail-up modem.
SMC and D-Link have routers the are cabel/dial-up ready.

Thanks for the feed-back from both responders. Your suggestions make sense,
I just never would have thought of trying it. Thanks again.
