Networking with 98SE

I seem to have a small problem with a crossover cable
network between two windows 98 computers.
While the first computer has no problems in accessing and
downloading data from the second, the second has a big
speed problem.
It transfers data very slow.
While the first downloads an entire movie in 5 minutes,
the second gets can't get a videoclip in that time.
Can somebody help me?

Did you check the cable and the connectors (RJ-45)?

If those cables are homemade, they are the most likely cause

and make sure they are made properly

not used the correct wire and plugs, you may see the problems you describe,
if they work at all. Many people have a conceptual problem in understanding

Try installing the protocol in the troubled PC again, restart and try the
same test again. Also look for the Disk free space on the troubled PC
