Can you ping the ip address of the other pc? Is file and printer sharing
bound to the connection? Are any resources shared out?

Able to ping (2nd pc)192.168.0.101 from (1st PC)
192.168.0.102. Unable to ping 1st PC from 2nd PC. IPConfig
shows 192.168.0.102 what looks like an internal IP Address
on 1st machine. Why does external IP Addr not show in
this case?

thx,

Because router has external address and pc's are on opposite side of router.
You may need to try some different cables, etc. to get to the bottom of
this. This link may also help. www.wown.com

Dave,
Wown was helpful. I also looked at
www.practicallynetworked.com and decided to build a mix
media network (I hope Dlink DI 604 router is
appropriate). HOwever, currently I still get No Network
Found eventhough I can ping the 2nd PC. As you suggested
I'll try some other cable connection to my Network which
will connect to Internet as well with DSL.

Question: is there a restriction to connecting to Internet
and personal Network simultaneously?

thx,
Ted

No, there is no restriction. At home I currently connect all my pc's to a
linksys dsl router. The wireless internet link connects to my router's wan
port. The pc's all connect to the router's lan ports. The router is setup as
a dhcp server, hence the workstations on the lan are all set to 'obtain an
IP address from a dhcp server' The servers on the network are set static
IP's and outside of the dhcp server's scope. Simultaneous Internet and lan
connectivity is not a problem.
