Network utility & Nortons Anti-Virus software issue

While running nortons anti virus and Microsofts Network
Utiliy, Nortons runs very slow and accessing the right
click features on anything is slowed down greatly. If
the network utility is turned off (shut down) then the
computer runs normaly. Has anyone else had this problem
and does anyone know how I could fix this?
