Network speed, throughput

Hello

I am having issues with slow backup and trying to find stats on what
throughput windows will support.

Can anyone tell me what windows will support on the network level, either
100 meg or 1 gig. ie.. 20 gig/hour 50 m/s...etc

Also is there a difference with performance between standard and
enterprise.. ie will enterpirse handle more I/O than standard ?

I am after the througput for 1 client (thread)... not a total # of clients..
