Network Speed Stuck at 10 Mbps

I've changed the setting in the utility, and the hardware
on both our computers on our network are G. My wife's
computer is running at 54 Mbps but mine won't change from
10 Mbps. I think the problem might be in my LAN network
connection. It's set at 10 and I don't see how to change
it, if that's even possible.

Do I need to create a new network connection?

Everything is working fine, I'd just like to use my stuff
at the best possible speed.

TIA

What networking adapter are you using, Paul? If you're wired, look at the
Network Interface Card (NIC) properties.

>>What networking adapter are you using, Paul?

I'm using an MN-700 with an Intel 21041-Based PCI
Ethernet Adapter.

Then take a look in Device Manager for the settings for the device under
Network Adapters. You should be able to change the speed there.

Unfortunately, there's just the usual settings there and
nothing about the speed.

I also have a "1394 Connection" which is rated at 400
Mbps, but it never shows any traffic. Should I just
delete that?

Just disable that, don't delete it because the next time you boot the
system, it'll get installed again. 8-) If you go into Network Connections,
right-click the LAN icon and select Properties, you should be able to use
the Configure button on the General tab to set the "speed" of the device, IF
it is adjustable.

It doesn't seem to be so I guess I'm stuck with it...
But thanks for all your help. It's not like my wife and
I swap huge files all day anyway.
