Hi. Not sure if I am in the right forum, but here goes. This has happened
at both of the two schools where I teach. We got a new server running
Microsoft Server 2003, but kept the old computers, all XP. As soon as we
got the new servers, the network slowed down. In particular, it takes much
longer to logon in the morning. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello mommio2,

Is that an additional server in the domain? Or complete new, please describe
more detailed the network and how the server waws added to it. Sounds like
DNS problem, please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the old and new server
and a workstation with problem.

Best regards

In both cases, the new server replaced the old one. I can get an ipconfig
from the new one, but not the old. Will that help? Thanks for your reply!

Hello mommio2,

Then please the running servers and a problem client. How did you change/migrate
to the new one? Is that a domain and how is DNS configured for the domain?

Best regards

Was the old server a domain controller? Was it demoted or was it simply
unplugged and shut down?
