I have a 10 client network with a server running Enterprise 2003. All
the client pcs are Dell 4300 or 4500 models with XP Pro, Office 2003,
and a law program called PC Law. Everyday between 4 and 5 pm all the
client computers lockup for 1-2 hrs, and then work fine for the rest of
the night. Usually only Word and Outlook are affected, other functions
of the clients work just fine. The server isn't affected, and niether
are any laptops that may have been connected throughout the day. All
the pc's on the network including the server have been quaranteened and
formatted, and my PC-cillin software detects no viruses, yet the
problem continues.

Details:
Server PC
Athlon 3000+
2 GB Ram
Server 2003
3 80gb Raptor Sata Drives in Raid 5 array
Nightly backup is run at 10 pm using retrospect disk to disk

Client PC's
Pentium 4 1.5 and 1.8 Ghz
512 Ram
XP Pro sp2

My internet connection is charter 3 meg. I have a linksys 16 port
10/100 base-T switch, and a linksys 10/100 router as a gateway.

Any ideas on what may be causing this lockup everyday and how to fix?

Thanks

Are you running a daily anti-virus scan?

Check to see if you have any tasks that run at that time like ntbackup or a
virus scan.
