Hello,
We are having a problem with printers disappearing from
our print server. We are running W2K3. This problem is
solved by restarting the print spooler. Any ideas on what
may cause this continual problem? We have about 70
printers on the server.
Thanks,
TLC

We were having the same problem. Ours was related to
connecting to the server using Remote Desktop connection.
There is a setting on the client side that allows you to
connect to virtual printers (i.e. Same printer as on
server (your computer name).
When disconnecting the server gets "all screwed up" and
doesn't properly delete the virtual printers and the spool
crashes.
Restarting the spooler is the only thing we have been able
to do to fix it. Make sure you aren't creating local
versions of printers when using remote desktop.
Hope this helps.

We are also using RDP, and after reading your posting, I see that the exact
same thing is happening. Local version of the printer are present on the
server. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy. Any luck on finding out what causes
this problem?
