Network Printer not working

Hi

I have Debian and I'm using CUPS. When I type # route y see my
network configuration OK

Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0
default 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0

So I tried setting "Device URI: lpd://192.168.0.0/hplj1010 " for my
HP Laserjet 1010 printer, to no avail.

CUPS complains saying "Unable to connect to printer; will retry in
30 seconds...: Network is unreachable".

Now I'm totally lost. I can provide more info, but as of now I
don't know what could be the problem. Perhaps is the name of the
queue, since I made that name up. (I'm trying to find the name of
the queue of my printer)

Any input will be most welcome

Just for the record, if I do something like ping -c 7 192.168.0.0
all works fine:
7 packets transmitted, 7 packets received, 0% packet loss

Just a thaught, if you have 192.168.0.0 on your computers NIC then the
networked printer can't have the same IP?

You probably pingning you computers NIC.
Try to connect to CUPS config from the web browser: http://localhost:631

Is the queue on that print server actually called "hplj1010" (what kind of
print server)?

The IP is certainly not valid, because for a 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0
network, 192.168.0.0 is the network address (which cannot be used for a
device). If your router is the print server its IP is apparently
192.168.0.1. If not, assign the printerserver any IP between, but not
including, .0 and .255 that is not otherwise being used.

BTW I hope 192.168.0.1 is the IP of a separate router, and not yourself.
