Network Printer Configuration

I am using a HP Businessjet 2280 printerwith a JetDirect network card
hard wired to a 3com Office Connect wireless router. All other
machines connect and interconnect wirelessly through the router to the
printer and net. I believe this is a peer to peer configuration.

My question is, does printer 'sharing' need to be selected in this
configuration? I don't think so as it seems to me that the printer is
'standalone', all machines that access the printer are loaded with the
printer driver. Interestingly, all articles I have read appear to
suggest whatever the network configuration, printer sharing requires
to be selected.

I ask the question simply to understand the subject and woiuld
appreciate your guidance.

All I did with my network printer is use the Add printer wizard on each PC.
