We are having problems with some of our remote users that are not able to use
their existing Network Place to access a share when connected via VPN. When
it fails, Windows displays an error indicating that user does not have
permissions, prompting the use to enter a new ID/Passord and producing the
same error no matter wihich ID/Password is used. They are usually able to
connect if they delete the existing Netowrk Place and recreate it - without
the need to reenter any ID/Password. This problem only effects some users -
others are able to connect the VPN and use the existing Network Place without
error.
The configuration is a Windows 2003 Server running IAS to provide a RADIUS
Server to the Cisco PIX 506e Firewall which is providing the VPN via the
Cisco VPN Client which is installed on each of the remote users laptops. All
remote users are using identical laptops running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
When they connect with the Cisco VPN Client the Cisco Pix 506e Firewall
passes the authentication request to the Windows 2003 Server via the RADIUS
Server integrated with Active Directory.
Does anyone have any ideas about this odd issue?
Thanks,
Michael
