Hi,
I have a windows 2003 server and network that up until a month or so ago was
running absolutely fine. Now, several times a day, the whole network runs
extremely slow. It takes 20 - 30 seconds to process a request from any
client on the network. Investigation shows that the store.exe uses between
275 and 390mb of physical memory (server has 1gb). If I use memmax (a memory
leak retriever) the store.exe drops to about 6mb and the whole network
spepeds up to what you would expect.
I'm wondering if this has been caused by a windows update as no other work
has been carried out on the server. Im thinking of removing exchange 2k3 and
reinstalling. Exchange has been service packed to see if it resolved the
issue, and yes I did install the hotfix for IIS first.
The specs for the server are as follows.....
P4 2.8ghz CPU, 1gb Ram, IDE raid controller mirroring 2 x 80gb drives (I
know IDE raid will be much slower that scsi, but as I said earlier, the
performance was fine)
The clients are win98se, w2k and a couple of Win XP. All of which are fully
uptodate.
I have seen many people with the same sort of issues through
www.deja.com
with store.exe using many resources, but none give any explanations. I
really hope someone can give me some ideas.
Many thanks
Paul
