I'd like to set up a username and password required folder on my pc and
set it up to be available to anyone who has the password whenever I'm
online. To access it an IP address would be fine to start, but I'd
like to eventually get a domian name for the folder, or better yet, set
it as a subsite (subfolder?) to the domain name I already have, e.g.,
blah.net/mp3s. Blah.net is not hosted on my PC at the moment, so can I
even make a redirect work? My professor told me to go the linux route,
he said there were specific programs written to work with Apache in the
linux world, but that this would be harder in windows XP. I'm not
currently in a positon to re-install windows and linux as a dual boot,
and I know there must be a windows way. Please help.

Install IIS from Add/Remove Components. Use IIS to host your files but
disable annonymous access.

IIS is available for WinXP Pro and not WinXP Home.
