I established a network between three comptures. Two desktops and one
laptop. Two run XP Home and one Xp media. I set up a network called HOME on
the new xp media desktop and added the other two. The both two show up on
the media when I check view work group computers. When I check on the other
two I get the message "Home is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use network. Contact Administrator. What am I doing wrong?

Forgot to say the computers are linked via a linksys G wireless router but
all computers are wired to it. All three computers are able to get on line.

Leona,

Make sure you do the following for each computer:

1. Control Panel, System, Computer Name and click Network ID button and
follow the wizard instructions.

2. In the same window, click the Change button and at the bottom where it
says WORKGROUP make sure the workgroup name is HOME.

Be sure to reboot each computer after following the above steps.

Hi
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,
http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html
As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed
to be shared.

Alias, I went on all three computers and on the main one the Network ID
button was greyed out and on the other two there was no option for Network
ID. As I just have general knowledge about computers, am I missing
something. Is there something else I need to attach to the computers, like
an antenna or something.
