Network no longer available

I have a WIN98-SE system on a LAN with two WinXP systems. Often when I try
to copy a large file to the WIN98 system, the copy over the network fails
half way with the message: "the network is no longer available."
What could be causing that?

do you have file sharing enabled on more than one protocol ?
