Network; no internet

I have just added a W98SE machine to an existing wifi network.

It can ping and be pinged, and it can be browsed from another machine.

But it cannot access the Internet.

Also, from this W98 box, when I try to browse another PC (say, 'M50',
running w2k) I get a password prompt for
\\M50\IPC$\
but none of the session password works.

I have a 2nd W98SE PC working pefectly on the same network... I'm out of
ideas.

TIA for any advice,

What are you using for NAT?

The network is based on a Netgear DG834G router-modem. It has NAT enabled
and all the PCs (but one) connect to the Internet through it.

In the meantime, I remembered the solution to the "browse from the W98
machine" problem (the trick was to add a user account on the w2k machine
with same name and password).

So, the LAN is now fully functional. But the last w98 PC still has no
Internet access. Even though I tried to adjust its settings to match these
of the w98 laptop, which has Internet access.

Can't figure out what can cause this... Maybe some corrupted winsock files?

I owe some apologies to the group...

I double-checking my router settings.

I noticed that the IP address it had assigned to the newly added w98 machine
fell outside the range of IP addresses authorized by the firewall rules.

I only had to adjust the rules.

Shame o my thoughtlessness!
