Network Neighbourhood

A new PC running Xp Pro has been added to an existing Network which gets its Internet connection via
a LAN to a Draytek 2600. No problem in surfing the net or sending and receiving emails.

However the PC has Norton Internet Security software installed which if turned off can then see all
other PCs on the network, and vice versa, with other PCs being able to use its connected printer.
Turn the firewall back on and all these facilities are lost. Clearly there is a configuration step
necessary in the software package but what needs to be done and how?

Help and advice on this issue would be very much appreciated.

If NIS is anything like ZoneAlarm - you need to set up a trusted network.
This will be the range of IP addresses that your router assigns to each
client - usually 192.168.1.nnn. If you tell NIS that everything with an
address in this range is safe, you should be able to see everything.

Run the home network wizard or put the IP range of your network in the
"trusted" addresses table
