Since Internet access and pinging work, we know that the network
hardware and the TCP/IP protocol are working.
The shortcuts in XP's "My Network Places" sometimes seem to go bad and
stop working. Right-click and delete a shortcut, then use "Add a
network place" to re-create the shortcut.
Try accessing another computer by typing its name in the Start | Run
box in this format:
\\computer
It might help to disable Browse Master on the W98 PC: Control Panel |
Network | File and Printer Sharing | Properties | Browse Master.
