How to network my computers?

I have two Dell computers that I want to network together
with my DSL connection. I am looking into wireless
routers, namely the Linsys Wireless G router. Both
systems have network cards already installed judging by
the RJ-45 slot on the back of the computers. I was
wondering what kind of equipment I would need. As in,
would I need a router for each computer or can two be
networked through one router? I'm a bit clueless when it
comes to this. Thank you very much.

This newsgroup is for the Microsoft Networking hard only. If you are
not using any of the Microsoft networking hardware I'd suggest you
either post on a general networking newsgroup or the newsgroup for your
version of Windows.

all you need to do is hook your modem ethernet cable from
your modem to your router your router will have 5 ethernet
ports on it one is for the modem ethernet cable that I
told you about above the other 4 are for other computers
now all you have to do is hook your best computer to port
#1 and your other computer to port # 2 its that simple if

I am going to guess that you are using Windows XP, and try to move this
discussion accordingly. You should see this reply in the original group, but
any additional comments should go to "Windows XP Networking Discuss" (by the
Communities pages); microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web on the NNTP
server. If I am wrong, oh, well...

You only need one router per network. The Linksys Wireless G Router looks
like the right start, but you will need a wireless access point at each
computer that won't be wired to the router. The DSL modem to router
connection is pretty simple. I've got a Linksys BEFSR11 and it is just a run
of CAT 5 Ethernet cable from the modem to the router.

You will still need one wireless access device at each computer. I don't use
wireless, so I can't say what to use, here. It looks like either the Linksys
WAP54G Wireless Access Point, or the Linksys WET54Gv2 Wireless Ethernet
Bridge will do the trick. The WET has a smaller "footprint", but I don't
know the prices. You will have to extend your research to those two devices,
or something similar to them, because they will be the means of moving data
between the computers and the router.
