network monitoring tool wanted

Can someone suggest a network monitoroing tool to enable me to manage my 70
station network in my office . Just want to see if anyone is downloading
torrents or consuming excessive bandwidth etc.
Pref free if possible
Another related question: if I can see that for example , user IP number
192.168.0.xx is downloading some big stuff , how do I discover which user
that is without going around and doing an ipconfig on each machine ?
We use DHCP.
I guess rename each machine to an easily identifiable netbios name is the
only solution ??

From the sound of your specific reqiurements, you need a proxy server. Not
exactly free, but ISA server will allow you to control and create specific
reports of all internet traffic, including where they've been, where they
can go, as well as controlling by individual user accounts or groups. It
uses Active Directory accounts.

Here are some free ones that I found searching Google. I have not tried any
of them, so I'm sorry I'm not able to comment on their features such as the
ability to control or report by user account.
