Network Monitor

1. How do I configure the filter of Network Monitor (comes as part from
Win2003) to detect a message from specific NetBIOS name?
Note that the IP address cannot be resolved. In fact I'm using the Network
Monitor to resolve this IP address.

2. How do I get the Network Monitor which comes with System Management
Server. Is it free?

Try the free Ethereal. I find it much easier and much more powerful than netmon. The
capture filters can range from very simple to ridiculously complex depending on your
needs. If the filter can not resolve the computer name you can do a capture and then
search for the computer name which could be in the body of a packet. Of course you
would want to use some sort of capture filter to try and narrow down the traffic to a
probable level of success. --- Steve
