If you're talking about sharing files from Windows XP to the MAC, then from
what I've read you'll need to go with third-party software such a MacLan or
DAVE. If you're running Windows Server 2003 you're in luck, read through

Hello,

Your advice doesn't work. I am trying to connect a MAC to a shared folder
on Windows XP Pro, but my MAC does not see any files inside the shared
folder even though there are many files. The directory is blank.

Ignore the Mac for a second (although yes, you do need OSX). Can another PC
user see these files from across the network? If you don't have another PC
ask a friend with a laptop to come over.
What security have you set on the folder?

Oh, I can see the files inside this shared folder from another PC just fine.
I just can't see them from the MAC computer. Security is set to Everyone:
Full Control.

The XP box is stand-alone. I did not specify a user when connecting from
the MAC to the XP box.
