network logon will not come up

network card working. all settings in place. reboot machine and it loads
windows. does not give me the network logon and i cannot get on the network.

win 98 machine liny sys network card running client for networks.

when i first install the network card the logon comes up. after i put the
tcpip and dns numbers in place, the logon does not come up. windows just
loads.
