For the past week, from our dc down to the workstations,
all computers have been intermittently locking up. None of
our sniffers or monitors are coming up with any unusual
activity on the switches. Any ideas?

Not sure exactly what you mean but if you mean network access locking up
check to make sure that the users can ping the domain controller [ by name
and fully qualified domain name] and other computers next time lockups
occur. A network lockup could be a problem with the domain controller or a
switch that is not allowing traffic to pass through it or being flooded with
traffic though you seem to have ruled that out. I would certainly run some
virus scans with updated definitions and check Event Viewer on the domain
controller for any related problems. The support tools netdiag and dcdiag
may also be worth a try to verify proper configuration of domain controller
and clients. --- Steve

And don't forget to run adware/spyware scans on the problematic machines.
