I'm at odds with something here and am looking for suggestions.

As of late, I'm having problems with intermittent and/or slow web and
email data transfer on my broadband wireless system. Initial 1.5
months of the service was incredible, but now these two are suffering.
The conundrum is that my news client has no such problems. Even
during periods with no access whatsoever for web/email, I can download
news with no problem.

ISP is being helpful, but they are suggesting misalignment of the
radio atop my TV tower. But wouldn't that affect all data
transmission? They are puzzled with that as well.

Any ideas as to things I could check out/test I could conduct?
Bandwidth monitoring only confirms the problems when surfing or
emailing but absence of problems when using newsgroups. Disconnected
D-Link wired router and tested; no difference.

thanks for all

Could it be a problem with your ISP's DNS service? Of
course you have do a DNS query for news too, but only to log
onto the server. After that, everything stays on the same
connection, so there are no further lookups.

Well, that's just a guess. But I agree with you that if
something was wrong with your hookup to the ISP, that should
affect everything.

Try doing a multiple ping to your default gateway when
things are running slow, and see what that looks like.
Well, I mean the default gateway when your router is not in
the picture.

ping -n 30 whatever your gateway IP number is

Or, you have something going on internally that affects your
browser and email client, but not your news client. Don't
know what that would be.
