Network issue after applying 2003 Server SP2

I performed an install of a new Microsoft 2003 Enterprise Server on an HP
DL580 G4. All HP firmware is up-to-date, and all drivers were running at the
lasted version. The latest HP smartstart was used. Everything worked good
until Windows 2003 SP2 was installed. An issue arose with the networking as
only IP routing seemed to work. The IP address of a web server or telnet
server could be pinged, but both services failed to connect. If a web page
was opened (either IE6 or IE7), the connection would just timeout. Same
problem with Telnet. I ensured that the firwall was disabled, and
reinstalled all HP drivers. I contacted HP, but they didn't seem to be aware
of this problem or a resolution. I didn't find anything on Microsoft as
well. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

At this time, support is free for any Win 2003 SP2 problems.

Hyper Threading needs to be disable on the BIOS. Apparently, this HP
server model does not support HT after installing SP2.

Unless, of course, if you install it manually and not via Automatic Updates.

Nice.

This is amazing ... I have run into the exact same issue with the DL58
G4! It is definitely tied to hyperthreading, as the problem goes awa
if you disable hyperthreading in the BIOS at boot-up.

We also noticed that when hyperthreading is enabled, in addition t
basic internet problems (can ping a website but cannot view it), we ar
unable to do the netview command.

I am planning on using this box as a load generator engine for system
performance testing, so I am very interested in finding out if you hav
found a solution or workaround to this problem. Anything that we can d
to squeeze some extra horsepower out of this machine is critical to wha
we are using it for.

Please let me know if you have discovered any kind of a solution o
additional details.

Thanks
