I think I know what the source of your problem is,
although I am not expert enough to give you a sound
technical reason. You can't access the Internet or other
computers in your LAN if you are simply connected via
network cards, a hub and a modem which gives you access to
the Internet. You need to install what is called a Router.
A router is essentially a Modem and a Hub all-in-one. They
are easy to install.... and if your a "el cheapo" like me,
go buy used stuff on Ebay auctions. You can get a good
router for less than half the retail price...and delivered
to your home.
